How to Choose a Holster Clip: Quick Clip vs. Monoblock vs. UltiClip
October 4, 2026 – Tony Palacios
The short answer: if you always wear a gun belt, the Quick Clip sized to your belt is a simple, dependable choice, and it comes standard. If you sometimes carry with a belt and sometimes without, the Monoblock Clip is the best of both worlds. If you want the most secure hold on your clothing, belt or no belt, choose the UltiClip.

Why the clip matters
The clip connects your holster to your body. A good clip keeps the holster in the same place all day, stays put when you draw, and holds the holster at the height and angle you set. The wrong clip can let the holster shift or ride up when you draw. Matching the clip to how you dress is one of the easiest ways to make carry more comfortable and more secure.
Quick Clip: the everyday standard (belt required)

The Quick Clip comes standard on every Armor Of God IWB holster. It's an all-plastic clip that slips over your belt, and it comes in two sizes so it fits your belt snugly:
- 1.5 inch: for most gun belts and casual belts.
- 1.75 inch: for wider belts.
The Quick Clip needs a belt to hold the holster in place. It isn't suitable for carrying without one.
Choose it if: you wear a gun belt every day and want a simple, no-fuss setup.
Monoblock Clip: the best of both worlds

The Monoblock is a metal clip with small teeth hooks at the very end. You don't need a belt: the teeth latch onto almost any garment you're wearing, so the holster stays put and you get a clean draw. Wearing a belt? It works over your belt too. That makes it the perfect hybrid between the Quick Clip and the UltiClip.
Without a belt, the Monoblock holds well, but it isn't quite as solid as the UltiClip.
Choose it if: some days you wear a belt and some days you don't, and you want one holster that handles both.
UltiClip: the most secure hold, belt or no belt

The UltiClip latches onto your clothing itself, so it gives you the most solid hold when you carry without a belt, in athletic shorts, joggers, scrubs, uniforms or dress pants. Wearing a belt that day? No problem. Your belt simply goes over the clip while it stays attached to your clothing.
Choose it if: you want the strongest hold in any outfit, or you often carry without a belt.
How to measure your belt (Quick Clip)
- Lay your belt flat.
- Measure straight across the width, top edge to bottom edge.
- Most gun belts measure 1.5 inches. If yours is wider, choose the 1.75 inch Quick Clip.

Pair it with the right belt
If you carry with a belt, a stiff, purpose-built gun belt keeps your holster from sagging and shifting. Our KORE gun belts are micro-adjustable, so you can fine-tune the fit. For even better concealment, add a ModWing Claw to tuck the grip toward your body.
Safety first
Make sure your clip is fully seated on your belt or clothing before you carry, and check that the holster stays put when you draw. Confirm your firearm is unloaded before fitting or practicing with a new holster, and keep clothing clear when you reholster. Read our full Product Safety & Liability guidance.
