Why Your Gun Belt Matters (and How to Choose One)
October 4, 2026 – Tony Palacios
The short answer: your holster can only be as good as the belt holding it. A regular belt bends under the weight of a firearm, so the holster sags, tips outward and shifts as you move. A purpose-built gun belt is stiff enough to hold everything tight to your body, so your firearm stays secure, conceals better and stays comfortable all day.
What a gun belt actually does
- Stops sag. A stiff belt carries the weight of a loaded firearm without drooping, so your holster stays at the height you set.
- Improves concealment. When the belt holds the holster tight, the grip tucks in instead of tipping out and printing through your shirt.
- Keeps your draw consistent. The holster stays in the same spot every time, so your hand finds the grip in the same place.
- Makes carry more comfortable. Weight spreads evenly around your waist instead of pulling at one point.
- Powers your ModWing Claw. The ModWing Claw pushes against your belt to rotate the grip toward your body. The stiffer the belt, the better it works.
Regular belt vs. gun belt
| Regular belt | Gun belt | |
|---|---|---|
| Stiffness | Bends and rolls under weight | Built to support a firearm without sag |
| Holster position | Sags and shifts as you move | Stays where you set it |
| Concealment | Grip tips out and prints | Holds the holster tight to your body |
| Fit | Fixed holes, often too loose or too tight | Micro-adjustable for a precise fit (KORE) |
Why we carry KORE gun belts
We pair our holsters with KORE gun belts because they solve the two biggest belt problems: sag and fit.
- Micro-adjustable fit. A hidden track with 40+ size positions lets you adjust in small 1/4 inch steps. Tighten a notch when you carry, loosen it after lunch.
- Reinforced core. KORE's reinforced Power-Core center makes the belt stiff enough to support your firearm and gear, yet flexible enough to sit, walk and move all day.
- No holes. A clean look that works at work, at the range or out on the town.

The everyday essentials: a solid gun belt, a holster built for your pistol, and the Word.
Which KORE belt is right for you?
- KORE Nylon Tactical Gun Belt: our everyday workhorse in black, coyote brown, tan, grey and forest green.
- KORE Multicam Tactical Gun Belt: the belt in the photo above, in Multicam, Multicam Blackout and Multicam Arid.
- KORE Buffalo Leather Gun Belt: a dressier leather look with the same reinforced core. Perfect for any more formal setting: the office, church or a dinner date with your wife.
Sizing questions? Check the size details on each belt's page, or ask us and we'll help you choose.
Match your belt to your clip
- Quick Clip: needs a belt. Choose the 1.5 or 1.75 inch size to match your belt's width.
- Monoblock Clip: works over your belt, as shown above, or without one.
- UltiClip: latches onto your clothing. If you wear a belt, it goes right over the clip.

Tips for setting up your belt and holster
- Put on your holster and belt together, with an unloaded firearm.
- Snug the belt until the holster doesn't shift when you move, but you can still breathe and sit comfortably.
- Adjust one notch tighter or looser through the day as needed. That's what micro-adjustable belts are for.
- If the grip still prints, add a ModWing Claw to your holster.
Safety first
Practice drawing and reholstering with an unloaded firearm until your setup feels second nature, make sure the trigger guard is fully covered, and keep clothing clear when you reholster. Read our full Product Safety & Liability guidance.
